CALLING ALL WRITERS!

Future Facing Films is seeking short screenplay ideas to produce

as part of our Funny Face Film Series

​

We are highlighting the many ways that facial recognition affects communities. It is a tool that exacerbates inequities – racial, financial, governmental – and to show the variety of under-considered repercussions and impacts, we want to amplify your voices and your stories.

Round 1: Submit your pitch

Deadline EXTENDED:

March 15, 2021

Write a 1 page treatment for a 5-10 minute COMEDIC short film about the different effects of Facial Recognition Technology, its rapid development, widespread usage, and potential dangers.

Follow the Submission Form link below to submit your idea. All submissions will be read by our reading team and up to 10 submissions will be selected to move to round #2. All writers will be contacted by March 25th.

 

We welcome all submissions. We are committed to diversity and inclusivity, and removing bias from any submission processes. All treatments will be read anonymously and selected for merit.

    TREATMENT CRITERIA:
     - 2 page max, including the title page
     - Treatment for a 5-10 minute short film 
     - Features the effects of Facial Recognition Technology
     - Must include comedy (of any variety: from slapstick to dark comedy)

Round 2: Finalists

Drafts due April 30, 2021

Finalists will be asked to write a full 5-10 min short film based on their treatment. Writers will work with our producing team to further develop their script.

​

Each finalist will receive a $50 stipend for a completed draft. 

​

Our reading team will then select up to 4 screenplays to have their work produced as part of our Funny Face Series.

​

All finalists will be contacted by May 7, 2021.

​

Selected screenwriters will receive additional compensation and will have their screenplay produced as part of our Funny Face Series.
